About this site

What is this site?

At the Allen Institute for Cell Science we are committed to being of service to the larger scientific community. That includes making our data, tools, and results accessible — but large datasets are not useful if it's unclear what can be done with them.

This site surfaces the open scientific questions that can be addressed using our datasets and tools, alongside observations, and early-stage code that could be valuable to someone with the time and knowledge to follow up.

Who this is for

  • External researchers looking to use AICS data in novel ways
  • Students and postdocs seeking a project or collaboration
  • Anyone curious about the open questions driving cell biology at scale

What you'll find here

New Idea or Question

An unexamined research question that could be investigated using one of our datasets — minimal preliminary work done, high potential for discovery.

Software Project

Apply one of our software tools to your own data, or convert a one time use script to a ready-to-use software module.

Observation

Something we've seen in our data that could be an interesting jumping-off point for a project, or corroborating evidence for work in another model system.
